For those who took a long break over Christmas and New Year, today is the first day back at work - and already they are facing traffic chaos.

Two vehicles - a car and a lorry - have broken down in the area of the M20 London-bound from J5 A20 for Aylesford to J4 A228 Castle Way Leybourne/Snodland which is already subject to roadworks.

Traffic is queuing on the M20 past Junction 5

One lane of three is closed and there is queuing traffic.

In addition, one lane of two is blocked on the M20 westbound from J9 A20 Fougeres Way (Ashford) to J8 A20 Ashford Road (Leeds Castle/Maidstone Services), due to another broken down vehicle causing more delays.

Drivers heading to Essex are also facing delays after an accident near junction 31 of the M25. Congestion is reported to be as far back as junction 2 of the A2 for the Darenth Interchange.
