Sewage has begun spewing out in a park again, just days after a leak was fixed.

An overflowing manhole in South Park in Armstrong Road, Maidstone has been reported a second time after being cleared last Friday.

Maidstone council and Southern Water was first alerted to the issue early last week when waste was spotted seeping onto the footpath and grass.

It is understood it was caused by a flushed rag which had resulted in a blockage.

The utility company attended and the leak was cleared by Friday.

Maidstone council says it has alerted Southern Water a second time.

A spokesman said the sewer was not its responsibility – it is the public sewer serving the houses next to the park.

Southern Water could not comment but confirmed its teams were attending the scene and treating it as the highest priority.
