The atttack happened near the law courts in Maidstone's Barker Road

POLICE are seeking witnesses to an assault in which a boy of 17 received a broken nose.

The victim and three friends were making their way towards Maidstone town centre from the Lockmeadow car park when the incident happened.

As they walked past the law courts in Barker Road, the boys passed a group of three, one of whom started to make dog-barking noises at them.

Following a verbal altercation between the groups, one of the older men walked over and punched the 17-year-old in the face.

The other two older men tried to calm the situation before all three of them walked away. The assault happened on Sunday, May 28, just after 9pm.

Dan Clegg, media and communications officer for Maidstone police, said: "The 17-year-old sustained a broken nose in the attack, which also caused him to fall backwards onto a concrete pillar. This caused him to hurt his elbow.

"However, he also sustained a concussion in the fall, causing him to forget everything that had happened surrounding the incident."

The friends with him at the time have described the group as all being in their 20s. The man who delivered the punch was white with a tanned complexion, 5ft 11in tall, aged about 26 and had a shaved head.

He was of a stocky, muscular build and wearing a white/light blue polo shirt.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information is asked to call Maidstone Police Station on 01622 604268 or call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
