Staff and pupils at two secondary schools are in mourning after two youngsters died in separate incidents.
Maidstone Grammar has written to parents to inform them of the death of Year 11's Harrison Fordyce.
Head teacher Mark Tomkins said it was "with the greatest sadness" he was letting them know the tragic news.
He said: "The circumstances are yet to be confirmed and I am unable to share any further information at the current time as we wish to respect and protect the privacy of the family.
"We are very mindful this information is likely to be particularly difficult for Harrison’s friends and year group to bear and that it will be a huge shock to them and a process of grief.
"Our thoughts are with Harrison’s family at this tragic time and the whole school community sends them our deepest sympathy and support."
The Barton Road school held extended tutor time on Monday with staff getting all students together to speak to them on how they can get support and help each other.
A spokesman told KentOnline: "Our whole school community has been deeply saddened by Harrison’s sudden death. This is a devastating loss to his family and friends.
"We have sent a letter to parents and carers, informing them of this tragic news and providing information on how we will be supporting our pupils.
"Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with Harrison’s family and friends at this most difficult time."
Valley Invicta Academies Trust also says it is offering support following the death of a female Year 8 student at Valley Park School, Maidstone, over the weekend.
A statement said: "Over the coming days, weeks, and beyond, we will do everything we can to support students, staff and the wider school community as they come to terms with this tragic news.
"Our thoughts are with the student’s family at this tragic time and the whole school community sends them our deepest sympathy."
Kent Educational Psychologist Service is providing support and guidance to both schools.
