VISITORS to an exhibition currently being staged by members of Maidstone Camera Club can join the organisation for £10 - a third of the normal price. The event, which runs until Saturday, has been open all week in the town's Chequers Shopping Centre on Level Three and has attracted hundreds of people every day.

Club chairman Roy Carey said both viewers and club members had declared the display the finest in the event's 50-year history.

Featuring 100 photographic images - everything from seascapes to portraits - this year's display features the highest number of digital images. The exhibition includes Roy Moore's panel of photographs, judged the best in the club. They feature Elvis Presley's car, a montage of the singer, a statuette and a lake.

A picture of the English Channel, by club secretary Margaret Lloyd, was named the club's best individual photograph. The display's success comes after the club was picked to represent the county in competitions to find Britain's best slide and the best set of four photographs.

Mr Carey said: "I feel absolutely over the moon about the way the exhibition has gone. We have achieved a lot of praise which encourages us to achieve even better results."

When the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Paulina Stockell, toured the exhibition she said she was so impressed would encourage her husband, Robert, to join the club.
