A children's show, which was cancelled, is set to return after receiving an anonymous donation.
The stage adaptation of the children's book, Dear Zoo, was due to come to Maidstone back in June, but was forced to shut down after tour bus was stolen.

Organisers had been at a show in Peterborough, in April, when thieves made off with it from the side of the road.

The cast of Dear Zoo are getting ready to made an appearance at the Hazlitt Theatre (15921449)

Inside, was the entire stage set and all of the cast's costumes.

Despite a nationwide search by the police and producers of the show, the tour bus and its contents have still not been recovered.

The bus did have a tracker installed, but the culprits had removed it and fitted it to another vehicle.

Unfortunately, the insurance money did not cover all of the production's costs, and bosses had to call it quits.

But now, three months later and after an undisclosed anonymous donation, the tour is making its first stop in the town.

Chris Davis of Norwell Lapley Productions, which produces the show, said “We are really delighted that we are now able to go ahead and put Dear Zoo out on the road again thanks to a very generous anonymous donation.

"Support for the show has been amazing and the sympathetic response from the public has been quite overwhelming.

"We had confirmed some tour dates for the autumn, but they were in doubt as we were not sure if we would be able to cover costs following the disastrous theft of the Dear Zoo live on stage tour bus."

You can catch the performance at the Hazlitt Theatre on Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5.

Shows will be on at 1.30pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday and 11am and 2pm on Thursday.

It will also appear at Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone and The Orchard Theatre, Dartford.
