Commuters faced with rush-hour delays after a signalling problem at Maidstone East.
The fault, on the Ashford-bound line, was reported shortly after 9.30am and Network Rail engineers were sent to carry out repairs.
Trains to London Victoria, London Blackfriars and Ashford International were among those affected.
Passengers travelling from Barming, West Malling and Borough Green were also delayed. The line re-opened shortly after 10am.
Elsewhere, passengers on the high-speed line were left stranded after a separate signalling problem at St Pancras International.
Trains from Gravesend, Medway, Sittingbourne, Faversham, Ramsgate and Margate, can not run into or out of the London terminal.
Tickets are being accepted on the London Underground and local buses.
