Several people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash in Sissinghurst this morning.

A woman had to be cut free from her car by firefighters after the smash, in Sissinghurst Road, at about 8.15am.

Another woman, a man and two children had freed themselves from a second vehicle before crews arrived.

Kent Police said the first woman was taken to hospital after suffering whiplash-type injuries.

A spokesman added the other four people were also taken to hospital after the crash, involving a Mini Cooper and Hyundai i20.

Queues built during the morning rush-hour as the road was shut in both directions.

The closure stretched from Chapel Lane to Three Chimneys while the scene was cleared.
