STUDENTS put thoughts of study behind them as they gatherered for a night of fun to bid farewell to their school days.

The leavers' ball in the stunning surroundings of Leeds Castle marked the culmination of seven years of hard studying for sixth formers at St Simon Stock School, Maidstone.

Despite the less than desirable weather, students were beaming from cheek to cheek as they arrived at the Fairfax Hall in limousines and sleek cars.

Students, their partners and teachers all looked the part in elegant ball gowns and stylish tuxedos. A delicious three-course meal was laid on allowing students to sit together for the last time and reminisce on years gone by and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

A tear-jerking speech by student Corina Pepper reminded all of their journey over the past seven years at the school in Oakwood Park.

Head boy Matthew Snyman thanked the organisers for their hard work in making the evening, which took place on July 7, a perfect success.

The evening was set alive by the music provided by Dance Fantzia Roadshow who created a great party atmosphere to which the students danced the night away.

The event was organised by the school's senior prefect team led by head girl Emily Smith and deputy head girl Louise Ostridge, and supported by current head of sixth form Henry McCourt.

Following months of organisation the whole year agreed that the evening had been a breathtaking experience, providing many memories to carry into the future.
