A woman described as a "beautiful soul" by friends was found dead at her family home, an inquest heard.

Jalisa Forsyth was found by police after they entered her home in Trevor Drive, Maidstone on June 8.

American singer Meghan Trainor paid tribute to the 22-year-old after her death.

An inquest into her death opened today at Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone. The coroner heard she had been found hanged.

At the time of Jalisa's death Meghan Trainor, who sang All About That Bass, posted a touching tribute to her "best friend" who had been following the star for 10 years.

She wrote on Facebook: "I am so devastated by the news of my sweet Jalisa's passing.

"Jalisa was always more than just a fan, she treated me like I was one of her best friends and I felt the same about her.

"She made friends everywhere she went and brought people together from all over the world. I will never forget Jalisa.

"I love you forever and always. I'll keep you in my heart and bring you to every performance with me forever."

Cheryl Cole also reached out to the family on Twitter.

She wrote: "I am eternally grateful to her and for her. I'll never forget her."

The family have gone on to create a JustGiving fundraising page in memory of the former Maplesden Noakes student to raise funds for Poole Hospital.

Her mum, Patricia Forsyth, wrote: "This page is dedicated to the memory of our beautiful Jalisa. In her honour we would like to raise funds for a charity.

"We have chosen the Neonatal Unit at Poole Hospital, quite simply because Jalisa loved babies and this is where she was born.

"Since we received our tragic news, we have been overwhelmed by the love and support of Jalisa's many friends and we are truly thankful."

Miss Forsyth was a local government officer in the town and was a graduate from the University of Chester.

The full details of her death are not yet known and a full inquest is due to take place on Tuesday, August 27.
