A 27-year-old has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident in Maidstone.

The suspect, from London, has been released on police bail and is due to appear before magistrates in the county town this Wednesday (August 31)).

The incident involved an attack on 51-year-old Arshed Mahmood, a prominent member of the town's Muslim community, in Upper Stone Street on Sunday, August 21.
