Police have arrested a motorist who allegedly travelled at more than 100mph and swerved over the lanes on a motorway.

The driver was eventually brought to a halt near the A249 Stockbury roundabout at 1.45am.

Officers said the man accelerated to 110mph after they were given a signal to pull the vehicle over.

The driver failed a breathalyser test.

A 22-year-old man from London is currently in custody after being detained on suspicion of drink driving.

It comes just a day after police stopped another vehicle on the M2 for travelling at almost 100mph and discovered a baby in the vehicle.
