Suspected thief accused of spitting in face of employee at Aldi supermarket in Well Road, Maidstone

A suspected thief has been charged with spitting at a supermarket worker.

On Tuesday a woman entered the Aldi store on Well Road in Maidstone and is alleged to have stolen groceries.

When challenged by staff at the discount retailer, the suspect is then alleged to have spat in the face of one of the employees.

Officers attended the scene and the woman was arrested.

Christine Brown, of Richmond Road, Gillingham, was later charged with theft and assault.

The 38-year-old was later bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 20.
