Cadets from six squadrons from the Air Training Corps enjoyed a rare treat when they were able to go up in a Chinook helicopter.
Teenagers from Medway and Sittingbourne went up in the aircraft. It was arranged by their warrant officer, Gerry Cannel.
The Chinook flew in from RAF Odiham, in North Hampshire, and landed on the field at Wainscott Primary School, Wainscott Road, Strood.
About 60 cadets from corps in Parkwood, Rochester, Gillingham, Chatham, and Sittingbourne, got to go up in the aircraft, which took them out for about 20 minutes during three different flights.
Simon Charman, Air Training Corps, civilian instructor, said: “The cadets, who are aged between 13 and 18, really enjoyed the flights.
“Not many of them had ever been up in a helicopter before and as we had about 60 cadets there, the helicopter had to do three flights.”
