It is understood the branch closed on Sunday, April 7 to allow for renovation works to take place.

This includes a major refit of the store, new fridges and fixtures, as well as the resurfacing of the car park.

A large sign on the outside of the building says it will reopen on Sunday, April 28.

“Our Maidstone London Road Express is currently closed to allow us to carry out a refurbishment of the site,” a Tesco spokesman said.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and we look forward to serving customers in our improved store later this month.”
