There has not been much to smile about when it comes to getting Brexit to happen - which, frankly, we're getting EUsed to.

Yet there are many positives which have come from Britain's failure to leave the EU as planned today.

In a bid to lighten the mood as MPs once again debate whether to back the Prime Minister's Brexit porposals, here are some of the good things which have come from the delays to the UK's departure.

We may still look our Eurovision counterparts in the eye

Assuming country does not lurch uncontrollably to a no deal, none of the other Brexit options will happen until beyond May 14 - the date of this year's Eurovision.

While we're unlikely to be kicked out of the contest once we leave, die-hard fans can at least enjoy one more year of muttering how we are "at least still in Europe" for the competition.

The dramatic office water cooler chats can continue

The real life political drama can easily rival anything The Thick of It scriptwriters could come up with.

We might actually miss those office conversations about where the political ship is being steered (or should that be drifting, rudderlessly?)

The chaos has, almost, created a shared sense of camaraderie as basically 'no-one knows what is happening.'

Weekend action at Dover cancelled

One campaign group wanted to blockade the Port of Dover tomorrow in protest at us leaving, which would have been a nightmare for anyone with plans for a day trip.

But that's now off as they wait to see what anti-Brexit marches take place - phew.

Keep calm and party

When an email erroneously suggested Invicta Grammar School's star-themed party taking place today was Brexit-inspired, there was a bit of a hoo-ha.

It turned out the party was not to do with leaving the EU, but now March 29 has just become any other day, the fun can continue.

Boosting charities

Just as there are very valid concerns some firms may struggle, there are opportunities for others even with the delay.

Royal British Legion Industries in Aylesford, which helps wounded veterans and offers them employment, is making the extra road signs needed for when we leave.

We do wonder if the contract features a lot of 'Diversion Ahead' signs.

Savour your day trip

It's likely a temporary reprieve, but extra passport checks on the continent are not in force yet.

You could bag a deal

One couple in New Romney are knocking £10, 000 off the cost of their £410,000 house, because they want to move by Brexit, which of course was meant to be today.
