Police made three arrests as part of an anti-drugs operation in Borough Green, West Malling and Snodland on Saturday night.

Assisted by specialist drug sniffer dogs, 15 people were searched under the misuse of drugs act.

The operation is run regularly across the Tonbridge and Malling district to deter those who might be involved anti-social behaviour or considering bringing drugs into the area.

A 24-year-old man from New Romney was arrested in West Malling after he was found to have a white powder on him. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine and later given a police caution.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Tonbridge and later charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis after being suspected of drink driving.

Officers also arrested a 16-year-old boy in Tonbridge on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, and he was later released on bail.

Another four people were given warnings for possessing cannabis.

Tonbridge and Malling Neighbourhood Inspector Mark Hutcheon said: "We have run this operation before and will continue to do so.

"It is about getting out into areas on the outskirts of larger towns and identifying offences and carrying out checks on licensed premises to ensure they are complying with their licences.

"Our drugs dogs indicate when someone might be, or has been, in possession of drugs and hopefully they will act as a deterrent to people and make them realise that it is not worth the risk to carry illegal drugs in public."
