A thug who punched and racially abused a McDonald's security guard has been banned from entering all of the fast-food chain's branches.

Bobby Shrubsole, 18, from Ashford, hit doorman Muhammed Usman, in the face after he was ejected from the restaurant in Week Street, Maidstone in September.

He had previously hurled racist abuse at the same guard in February.

Shrubsole, of Bloomsbury Way in Kennington, was charged with assault by beating and initially pleaded not guilty when he appeared before magistrates on October 11.

However, he was back at Medway Magistrates' Court last week, when he admitted the offence and another count of racially-aggravated threatening behaviour.

Pietro Matarazzo, prosecuting, said: "It was the same victim, the same location.

"He protested as he was being escorted out, he then punched the security guard in the face."

Deputy district judge, Sundeep Pankhania, was told Shrubsole had no previous convictions, but he decided to adjourn the case for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out.

He was granted bail on the condition he does not to go to any branch of McDonald's or contact the victim.

Last week a prolific Rochester shoplifter was banned from Tesco, Asda, Wilko and B&M for three years following a thieving spree he blames on the cost of living crisis.

Maidstone councillor Cllr David Naghi (Lib Dem) previously branded the top end of Week Street, where McDonald's is, as "lawless" and said the security guard there had "the worst job in the town."

Shrubsole will be sentenced at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on January 26.
