Dramatic pictures show thunderstorm hitting Kent

Thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds hit parts of the county last night.

Dramatic pictures showed lightning strikes in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, as the Met Office issued a yellow warning across North West Kent.

The thunderstorm warning was in place from 8pm last night until 4am.

Parts of Kent saw heavy showers and thunderstorms, with many capturing the crazy weather conditions on camera.

There was also lightning, hail and gusty winds.

A few places were predicted to see 20-30mm of rain fall in under an hour.

The Met Office warned there could be delays to train services, short term loss of power and other services and flooding.
