M20: Timber on road causes delays

Rush-hour motorists experienced long delays after a large amount of wood fell off a truck on the M20.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at near Junction 9 just before 5pm.

The coastbound stretch of the motorway between junctions 8 for Leeds and 9 for Ashford was partially closed and a rolling road block put in place.

One car was reportedly damaged during the incident.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called at 4.43pm to a report of timber on the carriageway of the M20 coastbound near Junction 9.

"Highways England was notified and a rolling road block was implemented while the debris was cleared."

The road was cleared by 7pm.
