Tommy Warrilow isn’t looking for sympathy as he battles to preserve Tonbridge’s Blue Square Bet South status.

A double postponement, sickness and other results going against them haven’t helped but the Longmead boss is ready for the fight.

Last Saturday’s crucial clash against Eastbourne and Tuesday’s meeting with Eastleigh were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

It means the Angels are now just two points above the bottom three ahead of the home game against fifth-placed Weston on Saturday.

Warrilow (pictured) said: "Everything seems to be going against us at the moment and it’s the first really bad spell I have had as manager. I don’t want people getting the violins out and feeling sorry for us, though. We have just got to get out of it.

"Somebody asked me how many points we might need to be safe but I don’t know as the whole league is so massively tight. Two or three wins will take us up the table."

Goalkeeper Lee Worgan would have been a certain non-starter against Eastbourne with a stomach bug, which also hit suspended defender Gary Elphick and midfielder Chris Piper. Piper has also been suffering from a kidney infection.

The washouts mean Elphick’s two-game ban and Olly Schulz’s one-game suspension have both been delayed.

The Eastleigh game now takes place on Tuesday, while the Eastbourne match will be played on April 23.
