Maidstone: Traffic lights not working on the Maidstone bridge gyratory system at A229 Fairmeadow and St Peters Bridge

Traffic signals on a busy town centre route have stopped working following a power cut.

The signals went out on the Maidstone bridge gyratory system at Fairmeadow and St Peters Bridge at 4.40pm.

Kent County Council Highways is warning drivers to approach the area with caution.

UK Power Networks has been called to the site as an emergency to reconnect the signals.

It is the second time there has been a power cut in the area within a week.

On Thursday night a number of businesses in Broadway were forced to close when the lights went out, including McDonald's drive-thru.
