Traffic lights at a busy Maidstone junction failed due to a power cut.

Drivers were navigating their way through the Willington Street and A20 Ashford Road junction without the traffic management system.

Kent Highways confirmed an engineer had attended to fix the problem but was unsuccessful due to a power supply issue.

UK Power Networks investigated the fault and corrected it at around 2pm.

Drivers were advised to expect delays and to approach with caution.

A spokeswoman for UK Power Networks said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and restored power supplies as quickly as possible."

The power interruption was confined to the lights and didn't affect the surrounding area.
