Travellers move onto land in Hermitage Lane, Aylesford near derelict bungalows

Travellers have moved on from a field off Hermitage Lane, after a string complaints from neighbours.

Around 15 caravans appeared on the plot in Aylesford at around 8pm on Tuesday.

The site was next to a row of derelict Royal British Legion Industries bungalows which were the scene of a suspicious fire in the early hours of the previous morning.

The land is earmarked for the development of a drive-through restaurant and three shops.

A spokesman for Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council said the authority had been made aware of the encampment but was not involved in enforcement action because the land was privately owned.

The agent responsible for the land, Hawkstone Properties, was been made aware of the situation and the travellers left the following day.
