Remembrance Day parade through Maidstone will result in road closures

A town will remember its fallen heroes with a military parade and a two-minute silence.
Maidstone’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations will begin at 10.30am on Sunday, November 10.
A parade, including servicemen from 36 Engineer Regiment and the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers along with civilian detachments, will march from Week Street, along the High Street and over Maidstone Bridge to the War Memorial at The Broadway.
At the memorial, a service will be conducted by Rev John Richardson, the vicar of All Saints Church, who will be assisted by the 36 Engineer Regiment’s padre, Tim Watts, and by Lt David Perkins of the Salvation Army.
Lt Col Ryan Castro RE, CO of 36 Engineers, will read the Kohima Epitaph and there will be a two minutes’ silence, followed by a laying of wreaths.
Afterwards, the parade will return along the same route, passing the Town Hall, where the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr John Perry, will take the salute, accompanied by Lt Col Castro.
The parade will dismiss in Week Street at 11.25am.
Members of the public are w]]invited to watch the parade and to join in the service, where hymn sheets will be distributed.
During the morning, there will be a series of rolling road closures, which may take place anytime between 9.45am and 12.30pm.
Motorists should expect delays or diversions.
There will be closures on Sandling Road at its junction with Stacey Street. On Station Road at its junction with Week Street ,and on Week Street at its junctions with Brewer Street, St Faiths Street and Union Street.
There will be additional closures at Earl Street, Pudding Lane, High Street, King Street, Wyke Manor Road, Bank Street, Jubilee Square, Gabriels Hill, Mill Street, and Lower High Street.
And also at the Bridge Gyratory, St Peters Street, Barker Road, The Broadway, Rocky Hill, Vine Mews, London Road at its junction with Buckland Hill to Rocky Hill, and Tonbridge Road at its junction with The Broadway and Terrace Road.
