Two arrested after man attacked near Whatman Park in Maidstone

A man was left needing hospital treatment after an attack in a town centre park.

Police were called to a location near Whatman Park in Maidstone at 1pm on Thursday following an attack.

Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

Eyewitnesses say there were at least five police cars on the scene and a section of the towpath which runs alongside Fairmeadow, near the High Level Bridge which links Maidstone East Railway Station and Buckland Hill, was cordoned off.

Officers arrested a 29-year-old man and a 33-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

The 33 year-old man has been bailed until Saturday, June 13 and the 29-year-old until Monday, June 29.
