An 83-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a two car accident at Detling Hill on Saturday.
The man, who is from the area, was driving a black Ford Focus that was involved in a collision with a blue Seat Leon near Jade's Crossing shortly after 1pm.
He had to be cut free by firefighters before he was airlifted to hospital.
The driver of the Seat Leon, a 24-year-old man, was unhurt.
Police officers are now appealing for any witnesses to the accident, which happened on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway, to contact them as soon as possible.
Sergeant Scott Lynch from the serious collision investigation unit said: "This is a busy stretch of road and I’ve no doubt that lots of people would have seen the collision, but were unable to safely stop their vehicles at the scene.
"I would urge these people to contact us as soon as possible to help us further our investigation."
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Kent Police serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538.
