Two treated by paramedics after bedroom fire in Upper Fant Road, Maidstone

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation after a faulty electrical appliance started a bedroom fire.

Three fire engines were called to a property in Upper Fant Road, Maidstone, at around 1am this morning.

Crews put out the blaze using their breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.

Two people were passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics who were all on the scene.

It's believed the fire was caused accidentally and started because of a faulty electrical appliance.

The fire service left the scene two hours later, just after 3am.
