Victory parade for Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold around Sevenoaks, West Kingsdown and Otford after winning skeleton gold medal

Kent Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold is being greeted by fans today as she makes a victory tour on an open-top bus.

Fans and admirers gathered as the bus parade for Lizzy, from West Kingsdown, left the Sevenoaks District Council offices this morning.

It was then taking in Sevenoaks railway station, Riverhead School, Knole Academy, St Michael's School in Otford before finishing at Brands Hatch at 2.10pm.

Lizzy was due to leave there at 2.30pm and head towards her final stop at West Kingsdown Primary School.

The skeleton sensation grew up in West Kingsdown and went to St Michael’s in Otford.

She was the only Brit at this year's Sochi Winter Olympic Games to clinch a gold medal.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Evans was dubbed Medway's golden girl after guiding visually-impaired skier Kelly Gallagher to victory in the Winter Paralympics.

The 22-year-old, from Chatham, and her partner claimed first place in the visually impaired super-G downhill – the first ever Winter Paralympics gold won by Great Britain.

Charlotte, who used to train at Chatham Ski Centre and studied at Rochester Grammar School and MidKent College, had been cheered on mum Siobhan who had flown out to Sochi to support her.
