Around 20 horses and carts came trotting through a High Street packed with shoppers.

They could be seen racing through Maidstone around 3.15pm.

Some narrowly avoided buses pulling into the stops, before pausing further along the road.

The scenes are reminiscent of May 2016, when around 30 animals arrived, with many left tethered to lamp posts and trees.

Police officers were later seen at Mote Park.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We were called at 3.57pm on Saturday to reports that a number of horses were in Mote Park, Maidstone.

"Officers attended the scene and no offences were disclosed."
