Maidstone Borough Council is warning residents after a spate of scams on the elderly and vulnerable.

Fraudsters are approaching residents by telephone informing them of an issue with their bank card.

Soon after the phone call, someone visits the house to collect the card, which are then used fraudulently.

Two men have been charged

A number of incidents have been reported around the borough which are being investigated by the council's Community Safety Team

Banks will never ask for personal details or the return of cards in this way and the council ask anyone who receives a call like this to report it to the police on 101.

Kent Police has been approached for comment.
