We test Domino's pizza delivery by canoe claim

By: Mary Graham

When Domino's announced it was making food deliveries by canoe, we decided we couldn't miss a pizza the action.

Earlier this month the firm floated a new idea - delivering to homes along the River Loose by canoe.

Domino's pledged a delivery buoy would paddle along the river to get to hard-to-reach waterside homes and the pizzas would be stored in special bags, equipped with flotation aids.

Domino's announced earlier this month it was trialling a pizza delivery service by canoe. So we tested it out.

As we started to wonder 'canoe believe it?' we tested it out. We had to be quick though, as Domino's told us the trial was scheduled for two weeks, which means it finishes today.

So after a hard morning walking around Loose, we parked up a camping chair right by the river on Saturday and phoned our order through, taking care to explain we were outside, by the river.

We sat back and waited for the sound of paddling oars.

Domino's has been approached for an update on how many orders were made by canoe, after the pilot project began on Tuesday, October 11.

A person answering the phone at the Loose store today said the trial was over and lasted a week.
