New statistics have been released which show where in the county people who have died of coronavirus were from.

The figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show confirmed deaths in Kent where Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.

Broken down by geographical statistical areas, the data shows deaths which occurred between March 1 to May 31, and were registered by June 6.

The area with the highest number of recorded deaths is Cliftonville West, in Thanet, which has seen 27 people die as a result of the virus.

At the opposite end of the scale, the updated figures - which can be seen below - show some areas where comparatively few people have died with Covid-19, the majority of these being rural parts of the county.

Dungeness and the southern portion of Romney Marsh, in the Folkestone and Hythe district, has recorded no deaths.

Rather than the locations of deaths, which would lead to peaks in areas with hospitals, the data shows where those who died from the coronavirus were from, as recorded on their death certificates.

The ONS said that a small number of deaths had been reallocated between neighbouring areas to protect confidentiality.

The figures exclude deaths of non-residents and are based on February 2020 boundaries.
