Crash in Maidstone Road, Nettlestead

A woman is in a critical condition after being left trapped in a car following a crash in Nettlestead.

Police are appealing for information about the crash between two vehicles which happened in Maidstone Road, between Hampstead Lane and Bow Hill, at about 5.30am.

The woman,aged in her 40s, was driving in the direction of Paddock Wood when she was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Mondeo heading in the opposite direction.

Fire crews stabilised the vehicles before using a hydraulic ram, cutters and spreaders to allow paramedics to reach the woman.

She was then flown to a London hospital by air ambulance for further treatment for injuries to her chest, stomach and legs.

The driver of the Mondeo, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury with injuries to his chest and legs.

Four ambulances and one response car was sent to the incident. The road remained closed until around 11am.

Investigating officers would now like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to it.
