Woman dies after collapsing at Dunelm store in London Road, Maidstone

A Dunelm store was closed after a woman collapsed and died, it has been confirmed.

Paramedics were called to the home shop in London Retail Park, Maidstone, on Sunday, December 31, at around 10.50am.

The store was closed shortly after 11am for the rest of the day and reopened on New Year's Day.

Ambulance service spokesman Rich Airey has since confirmed the woman died at the scene.

He said: “Ambulance crews attended the scene but despite the efforts of all those involved, the person sadly died at the scene.”

One woman who was in the shop at the time said two ambulances and police officers were are the site, where a woman laying on the floor was being treated, and an air ambulance was called.

A police spokesman added: “We were called to a medical incident at a retail premises in London Road, Maidstone, at around 11.15am on Sunday.

“Officers attended the scene where they assisted South East Coast Ambulance Service.”
