Woman in 70s flown to hospital after being hit by a lorry on Loose Road, Maidstone

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 70s was struck by a lorry.

She was hit by a white Volvo with a blue articulated trailer at around 2.30pm on Loose Road, Maidstone and suffered serious injuries.

Ambulance crews treated her at the Heather Drive junction and she has now been airlifted to King's College Hospital in London for further medical attention.

Loose Road is closed to traffic between Sheals Crescent and Park Way and drivers are advised to find alternative routes.

It is not yet known when it will reopen.

Officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging anyone who saw the pedestrian or the lorry in the moments leading up to the crash, or has dash cam footage, to contact them.
