A woman who died after being hit by a train had left a mental health care unit hours before, saying she wanted to kill herself, an inquest heard.

Natalie Gray died at Barming train station on Tuesday evening last week.

The 24-year-old, who lived in Bournemouth Road in Folkestone, had been a voluntary patient at Priority House in Hermitage Lane where she was receiving care from a mental health team.

She had left the unit at 4.30pm saying she wanted to take her own life, and was reported missing to the police.

Miss Gray was next seen at 6.10pm by the train driver.

She died at the scene from multiple injuries.

The inquest, at Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone, heard that she appeared to have jumped into the path of the train.

A pre-inquest review has been provisionally set for July 14.
