A woman's bag was taken after she was pushed to the floor in a town centre alleyway.

The robbery happened on the path between Camden Street and Woollett Street in Maidstone, near the prison, at around 10pm on Thursday.

Police arrested a suspect - a man aged in his 30s - later that evening. He has been released on bail, while inquiries continue, until June 16.

The victim sustained minor injuries and her bag was found nearby but with cash missing.

Officers investigating the robbery are asking anyone with information, including drivers who may have been in the area with dash cam footage and residents with CCTV security systems, to come forward.
