Police appeal for information after woman's handbag snatched in Willington Green, Maidstone

A teenage thief snatched a woman's handbag in broad daylight while she was out on a shopping trip with her child.

The victim, who is in her 30s, was walking in Willington Green in Maidstone when the boy pulled the bag from her shoulder and fled.

He was seen running along Huntingdon Walk towards Westmorland Road with another teenager in the moments after the alleged robbery at around 12.30pm on Friday.

Both teens are described as being aged between 17 and 18 years old and were wearing tracksuit tops with the hoods up.

PC Chris Welham, of Maidstone CID, said: "While investigators are completing enquiries in the area, including the examination of CCTV footage, we would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident or saw the suspects.

"I would also appeal to motorists who were in Willington Street or Willington Green between midday and 1pm with dashcam to check for any footage that may assist our investigation.

"We have issued a photo of the missing handbag and are asking anyone who finds it discarded to contact us."
