A whole year group has been sent home to self isolate after a pupil at a school in Maidstone tested positive for Covid-19.

The confirmed case came from a pupil in the Year 7 bubble at Cornwallis Academy in Hubbard's Lane, part of the Future Schools Trust

The announcement was made this morning and the whole year group has been sent home as a precaution until November 22.

Some staff within this bubble have also been asked to stay at home.

The trust's chief executive, Isabelle Linney-Drouet said: “Cornwallis Academy’s leadership team and I are working closely with Public Health to ensure we can safely operate the remainder of the school within the current guidelines.

"The safety of students and staff is our primary concern; we of course wish all our students well and look forward to having them back on Monday 23rd November.”

The secondary academy in Loose joins a whole host of schools across Kent that have had confirmed cases since pupils returned in September.
