Businesses in a town centre have been left with smashed windows after a night of vandalism.

Poundland and Shoezone in Week Street, Maidstone, were hit with a fire extinguisher in the early hours of Saturday.

A staff member from one of the stores said the incident was captured on CCTV at about 2am on Saturday morning.

Two girls were seen setting the extinguisher off and covering the windows with foam before two men arrived later and smashed the glass.

After photos of the damage were posted on social media, people were left in shock at the mindless vandalism.

One wrote: “What’s up with some people, they have zero respect but expect respect from others.”

Referring to the recent destruction of Shaun the Sheep displays, another added: “They haven’t got a Shaun to damage so they’re starting on the buildings now. Let’s hope they’re caught.”

Both stores are still open.
