A woman jogger needed hospital treatment after a white van pulled up alongside her while she was out running and something was fired at her with a catapult.

The incident happened on Monday at 4pm when the 20-year-old was jogging in Wateringbury, approaching the junction of Pizien Well Road and Tonbridge Road.

The white van, which had no markings, pulled up alongside her and the passenger wound down the window and fired an object at her from what appeared to be a catapult.

She was hit just above the knee and needed hospital treatment.

Sgt Mark Ginsberg from Kent Police said: “This was an assault against a victim who was simply out exercising and causing no bother or inconvenience to anyone.

"We would be very keen to hear from anyone who saw the van in the area at the time or who witnessed the assault so we can identify the driver and passenger and speak to them about this report.”

If you can help call Kent Police on 101, quoting crime reference YY/17025/12, or call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
