Thieves stole metal cable worth £10,000 from a water company near Tunbridge Wells.
They struck twice at Southern Water's premises in Broom Lane, Langton Green between 5pm on Wednesday, April 24, and Monday, April 29.
In total, 600 metres of electricity cable was taken and to replace it is likely to cost the company more than £15,000.
Officers believe the cables would have been extremely heavy, which suggests suggesting the culprits had the ability to cut them into smaller parts and load them onto a truck.
Chief Insp Nikki Faulconbridge said: "Because of the tools and equipment required to carry out a crime such as this, this would not have been an opportunistic or unplanned offence.
"We are talking to farm owners and the rural community to see if anyone saw anything suspicious over the weekend, but if anyone else saw anything suspicious, such as a large truck or a trailer in the area, we would like to hear from them as those details could be significant. It may be that the offenders had visited the area previously to search for possible targets."
