Police have appealed for a potential witness to a crash to come forward.

Officers believe a man may have seen a collision between a cyclist and a green Hyundai Accent at about 1.45am on Monday, August 13.

The passer-by was crossing Bishops Way, in Maidstone, towards the High Street, around the time of the incident.

He was wearing white shoes, light coloured trousers and a black top.

The 18-year-old biker involved in the crash, who is from the town, is in a serious condition at Kings College Hospital in London.

The road was closed until 6.30am while emergency services investigated the scene.

PC Jamie Woodhams, from the Kent Police serious collision investigation unit, said: "We have been reviewing CCTV in the area and we are hoping to identify this man, who might have seen the collision, or events leading up to it.

"He was walking alone in the direction of the town centre at around 1:30am and we would like to speak to him to see if he can assist our investigation."

Anyone with information about the man or the incident is asked to contact PC Woodhams on 01622 798538.
