Police appeal for witnesses after Week Street fire, Maidstone

Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses following a major fire in Maidstone town centre.

Flames ripped through The Works bookstore in Week Street in the early hours of June 8, gutting the building and causing significant damage to a number of neighbouring businesses.

Adam Stajer, 21, was arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently charged with arson.

The appeal urges those with information who haven't yet stepped forward to get in touch with police.

Detectives are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been passing through the area in the two hours leading up to the fire - between midnight and 2am.
