Schools, charities and community groups are starting to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Haiti.

The country has made appeals for urgent aid after tens of thousands of people were killed in a devastating earthquake on Tuesday, January 12.

Kent has already responded by sending specially trained firefighters - pictured above - to help find survivors and clear rubble from the flattened capital, Port-Au-Prince.
