A man has been charged with common assault after a road was closed off last week.

Matthew Grant Stannard, 37, of Melville Road, Maidstone, has been bailed until Wednesday, September 2 when he will appear before Maidstone magistrates.

He was arrested after police sealed off part of Melville Road on Thursday, August 13.

Officers arrived, along with two dog units, and armed police arrived at about 6pm. The road was taped off.
