A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car after a police chase.

At around 1.50pm yesterday a vehicle failed to stop for police officers in Sandling Road, Maidstone.

After a short pursuit the vehicle was found empty in Cross Street.

Officers then discovered a 24-year-old Maidstone man in Sutton Road a short while later, and he was arrested on suspicion of offences including aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, and dangerous driving.

He remains in custody this morning while police inquiries continue.
