A man arrested after violence erupted at a Maidstone supermarket this morning was released after apologising to the victim.

A brawl broke out at Morrisons, off Sutton Road, just after 9am, with police quickly attending the store.

A spokesman said: "It is reported that during this disturbance a man was assaulted by another man.

He added: "Officers have attended the scene and a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault."

However, Kent Police later confirmed the incident was dealt with by way of community resolution, meaning the offender and victim sorted out their differences in a civil manner.

The suspect was then released.
