A man has been arrested in suspicion of drink driving after a car slammed into a wall on Friday evening.

The silver Ford Mondeo narrowly missed a postbox which is built into the wall in Busbridge Road in Maidstone, near the junction with Stockett Lane.

The crash happened at about 11pm and neighbours said "there was a lot of shouting" with police, fire and ambulance crews quickly on the scene.

Both the driver and a passenger were taken to hospital but their injuries were not being described as serious.

The driver, aged 27, was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

No other vehicles were involved.
